DharmaDen Sessions

Since 2020, DharmaDen has been providing a space for San Diego songwriters, poets, and comedians to share their work.

From Then to Now

Above is our most recent video release on our YouTube channel. It features one of the co-founders, Rachel Jay. Video was recorded live at Henry’s Pub in San Diego’s Gaslamp District. Our first video that launched the channel is featured to the right, which also showcases Rachel.

#TunedUpSD

This is a local music series. Neilson started with this series since the majority of his social network is filled with other musicians. There are three “seasons” per se. The first season was recorded in a living room. Since all the music venues were closed due to the pandemic, we saw this as a viable alternative. Once businesses began opening up again, Neilson found opportunity to bring the series to Ocean Beach. This second season was filmed at The Template, an artist cafe that was looking to collaborate. The third, and current, season is filmed at Henry’s Pub in the Gaslamp District of San Diego.

#SpeakUpSD

The second series, SpeakUp, is centered around San Diego poets. As his community of poets expands, Neilson plans to expand this series.

#ThatTimeIBombed

The channel even produced two episodes of a podcast with local comedian, Zoltan Kaszas! The two episodes featured Jesse Egan and Dustin Nickerson, both of who have had a significance influence in San Diego comedy. The podcast centers around Zoltan talking with his fellow comedians about the times they bombed on stage.

Love live music like we do?

As of 2023, DharmaDen has been providing live performance videos for local San Diego songwriters. We realize how important this is for independent artists and their social media strategies. But, what else does the local scene need?

We’d love to know!
